The Story of Oxbow

Every morning at our farm, the sun gets to us by rising over Woodlawn Mountain, a 3100-ft peak in the Taconic Mountains, just across the Pawlet-Danby town line. Bounding one side of the Mettawee Valley (featuring “some of the most beautiful natural landscapes in all of Vermont”), Woodlawn Mountain boasts dense forest and a prominant north-facing curvature known as the Oxbow for its resemblance to the U-shaped piece of wood used to secure oxen to a yoke. To us, Oxbow is a nod to the long history of agriculture, the importance of our animals, and the natural beauty of our home.
